Oscar Ramirez, MS, CFY-SLP
Background
Oscar is a native Austinite who brings both personal experience and professional passion to his work as a speech-language pathologist. He earned his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and began his career as a speech-language pathology assistant at the Capitol School of Austin, where he spent several years working with pediatric clients. Oscar completed his master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2025.
Oscar’s journey in speech-language pathology began as a client himself. As a preschooler who received speech therapy, he experienced firsthand the confidence and positive change that effective therapy can bring. That early experience inspired him to pursue the field professionally and to help others build the same confidence he once gained. Throughout his years as an SLP-A, Oscar developed a strong passion for working with pediatric language development and social pragmatics. His clinical experiences in public education and pediatric home health further shaped his interests, leading to a particular focus on fluency and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
Oscar was drawn to Austin Communication Station for its strong sense of community among therapists, clients, and families. He values the collaborative approach at ACS, where caregiver counseling and teamwork are central to supporting each client’s goals. In therapy sessions, Oscar enjoys incorporating literacy, games, and client interests to create engaging and meaningful experiences. He is grateful to be part of a team that prioritizes effective, individualized care and is excited to continue growing alongside the Austin’s Communication Station family.
Outside of work, Oscar enjoys playing board games, swimming, and keeping up with the latest comics.
