Leandra Paine, COTA
Background
Leandra was born in Vermont and lived there and in New Haven, Connecticut, until she was 15 years old. Then, her family moved to Austin in 1994, where she completed high school and her COTA degree. Leandra attended A.C.C. here in Austin and attained her COTA degree in 2021. She has 3 years of experience as a pediatric COTA and 10+ years with children in instructional childcare programs. She has experience with many various populations: autism, ADHD, I.D. diagnoses, low vision, low income, sensory processing disorders, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, home health, and school settings.
In her free time, she loves to get together with her family and friends to cook and enjoy the outdoors, and she also loves to cozy up at home with a good book or movie. She has a teenage daughter, Jackie, and two cats, Milo and Luna. Leandra’s hobbies include swimming, going to the park, singing karaoke, volunteering at the Austin animal shelter, shopping with her daughter, and going to hear live music. Some of her favorite things are music, concerts, stand-up comedy, dance, art, and photography.
Leandra decided to work at Austin’s Communication Station because she had an amazing clinical rotation at Austin’s Communication Station in college, and she loved how the clinic was run and how we treated our clients and families with care and compassion, as well as the staff. She wanted to be part of the awesome team at Austin’s Communication Station and help make a difference in our client’s lives. She loves that in her job at Austin’s Communication Station, things don’t get boring because every day/hour is different with fun therapy sessions, and she can move and be physically active while working with the kiddos. She also loves collaborating with her patient’s whole family unit which is so vital to a child’s growth, development, and success in therapy.
